Southampton midfielder Harrison Reed looks set to depart the club on loan, with Blackburn Rovers reportedly close to agreeing a deal. Despite making his first-team debut over five years ago, Reed has always been on the periphery at the club where he came through the academy at and looks set to depart on loan once again.
He spent last season on loan at Norwich City, playing 39 times in the Championship, and scoring one goal in his first season of regular football.
Now the 23-year-old is being courted by Blackburn after the arrival of Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong pushed him further down the pecking order at St Mary’s.
Reed only made 30 appearances for Southampton between 2013-2017 but is still regarded highly at the club as they are only keen for him to depart on loan rather than a permanent deal.
He would become Blackburn’s fifth signing of the summer as they look to continue their unbeaten start to life back in the Championship.
