Ismaila Sarr insists he has no plans to leave Rennes before the close of the summer transfer window. The Senegal international, who played in all three of his country’s matches at this summer’s World Cup, has impressed since moving to Rennes from Metz 12 months ago, as he netted six goals and provided five assists in his debut season with the club.
The 20-year-old’s stock certainly appears to be on the rise and Spanish giants Barcelona are among a host of top sides that have been linked with making a move for his services before the summer window slams shut.
However, Sarr himself has now dismissed talk that he will be leaving Rennes anytime soon, as he believes he will benefit from remaining at Roazhon Park for a good while longer.
“I think I will stay in Rennes. I still have two or three years of contract remaining. I focus on my season and Rennes. It’s too early to leave,” Sarr told Ouest France.
The news will certainly come as a boost to Rennes supporters, particularly as the Red and Blacks face a testing trip to the Stade Velodrome to take on Marseille in their next Ligue 1 match on Sunday.
