Technical director Simone Resta is adamant that Sauber are aiming to keep improving after their positive start to the 2018 season.
The Swiss outfit have had years of financial uncertainty, which has resulted in them racing with cars that have failed to compete with the majority of their Formula 1 rivals.
However, with their relationship with Ferrari now looking stronger than ever, they have seen big improvements this year. They sit ahead of Williams in ninth place in the constructors’ standings, but are still in touch with the likes of Toro Rosso and McLaren.
And while Resta is happy with the way things are going, he has vowed that they intend to keep improving performances.
He said: “The plans are to increase further. Currently, in terms of size of the team and number of employees, we are over 400 and we the plan is to increase it by a third. We need to keep growing to increase and also with more manpower.
“Without a doubt, we are not where we want to be so we need to improve and we need to change things. It is a bit early to pinpoint the exact areas we need to work on, but as it has been [four] weeks, it will be not fair to understand all the areas we need to modify.
“But without a doubt, we need to change things and improve.”
