Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez has ruled out ever making a future move to Real Madrid saying it would be “unthinkable”. The 23-year-old Spain international has worked his way through the youth ranks at Los Rojiblancos and is now a member of coach Diego Simeone’s first-team plans at the Wanda Metropolitano.
And, ahead of Saturday’s eagerly-awaited Madrid derby against Los Blancos in La Liga, Saul was quizzed on the possibility of ever moving across the Spanish capital to the Santiago Bernabeu.

He told Cadena Ser’s El Larguero programme: “Joining Real Madrid would for me be unthinkable…it would be very, very difficult, almost impossible.
“On Saturday there is no favourite, the only thing we can know for sure is that it will be a beautiful game.
“We are a team who are growing and its natural that we are exposed to criticism because of this profile, but we do not want to be compared to Madrid or Barcelona.
“We are working to reach this level of course, and I believe at least six Atletico players would be starters in Madrid’s team, but we need to remain level-headed.”
