Schalke midfielder Alessandro Schoepf says his side will not go defensive in Saturday’s derby against Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund are yet to taste defeat in the league this season – winning 10 and drawing three of their 13 matches – and the club have managed to open up a seven-point lead from second-placed Borussia Monchengladbach.

BVB have scored an impressive 37 goals – the most of any team in the division this term – and they will be feeling confident of grabbing all the spoils at the Veltins Arena in this weekend’s Ruhr derby.
Last season’s runners-up Schalke are languishing down in 12th position, having won just four times, but they are unbeaten at home against their in-form rivals for the past five years.
Speaking ahead of the contest, Schoepf says he respects what Dortmund have been doing this term but claims the Royal Blues will not sit back and let the leaders take the game to them on Saturday.
“Our opponents are a top team this season, who are especially strong in attack,” he told the club’s website. “It is remarkable what Reus, Alcacer and Sancho, to name a few, are doing week in week out.
“But we will not stay back. We want to play our game. Every team has weaknesses and we need to recognise them and exploit them.”
