Schindler Set To Stay With Town

Huddersfield captain Christopher Schindler is expecting to still be at the John Smith’s Stadium for the new Championship season.

The 29-year-old, who has made over 120 appearances for the Terriers since joining from 1860 Munich in summer 2016 and helped the side secure promotion via the Championship play-offs in May 2017, is already gearing up for life back in the second tier next term.

Town’s relegation was confirmed at the end of March and a number of the first-team squad have already been linked with a move in the summer.

However, when asked if he would still be around in August, Schindler, who has two years remaining on his current deal and the option of another 12 months, told the Examiner: “Obviously we have to see what will happen, I have a contract and you never know what can happen. “At the minute it looks like I am staying and it’s a tough period now because there will be a lot of changes.” Despite his own future looking like being in West Yorkshire, Schindler is expecting a huge summer for boss Jan Siewert.

He said: “It is going to be a big transfer window, a lot of players maybe want to stay in the Premier League so it is a bit insecure of who’s staying and who isn’t staying. “So there is a lot going on in the dressing room as you can imagine and it’s not very easy to keep a clear head for the games.”
