Schulz Open To Joining ‘Top Club’

Hoffenheim defender Nico Schulz says he would be open to joining a “top club” amid reported interest from Borussia Dortmund. The 26-year-old joined Hoffenheim in the summer of 2017 after struggling to earn regular gametime with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Hoffenheim remain in contention to claim a spot in next season’s Champions League and Schulz has played a key role in their impressive performances. It’s understood his exploits have caught the eye of Dortmund and reports claim they are preparing a summer bid.

Schulz appears open to the idea of moving on from Hoffenheim after admitting he would like to join a “top club”. “There are some top clubs,” says Schulz, “Dortmund is definitely one of them.

“I’d like to switch to a top club once, as the people in charge know, it’s no secret, so if a club really knocks, I’m in an old age now, where we have to sit down and decide if the time has come. “In principle, foreign countries would also come into question, I am no longer a small boy, but I have matured and would be able to cope anywhere.”
