Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill is delighted Scotland winger Damien Hoyland has signed a one-year extension with the club. Hoyland has struggled with injury in recent years but made a return to action in February after a long spell on the sidelines with a foot problem.

Cockerill hopes Hoyland’s injuries are now over and feels the winger can establish himself as a key man for Edinburgh going forward. “We were really impressed with his mindset and the way in which he returned,” said Cockerill, as reported by the BBC. “He’s an international winger that has shown he can perform at the highest level.
It will be hugely beneficial for him get a full pre-season under his belt and he will be an important player for us at a key position.” Hoyland has been capped four times by Scotland and last featured for the national side in 2017, while he has managed 20 tries in 63 appearances for Edinburgh.
