Leinster second-row Ian Nagle has agreed to join Pro14 rivals Ulster on-loan for the rest of the 2018-19 campaign. The 30-year-old joined Leinster in 2016 from London Irish but he has struggled to earn a regular run out with the Irish province.
He has turned out just once for the European Champions Cup winners this term, against Scarlets, and he has opted for a switch to Ulster as he looks for further gametime.
Operations director Bryn Cunningham said: “We are delighted to have Ian on board for the remainder of the season. “With the recent retirements from our squad, we clearly needed extra cover in the second row department.
To get someone of Ian’s experience and quality, who is Irish-qualified and available at this stage of the season, is extremely pleasing.”
Nagle’s signing provides a much needed boost in the pack for Ulster following the recent retirement of forwards Jean Deysel, Chris Henry and Peter Browne.
