The work is being carried out while Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s team are currently away on tour in the Far East, with the onus very much on keeping prying eyes out. It is understood United have spent a small fortune on the new measures and it will ensure their expensively-assembled squad can continue to train in relative peace and quiet.

There have been some disturbances between genuine fans and professional autograph hunters at the main gate into the complex – which has seen players ordered not to stop. It has led to some ugly scenes – but United will now feel much more comfortable they have eyes and ears on everything going on 24 hours a day. United have also received the green light from the local council to build a new access road – with some players complaining about being delayed on their way into training.
