Serena Williams has confirmed that she will again compete in the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi this month.
The 37-year-old 23-time Grand Slam winner featured at the inaugural women’s tournament 12 months ago in what was her first game back following the birth of her daughter.

On that occasion Williams went up against Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko, but the American has revealed that this time around it will be a family affair against her sister Venus.
“I loved playing in Abu Dhabi last year. I am excited to return to such a beautiful city and to see my fans,” Williams said in a statement released by organisers on Tuesday. “This time, I’ll be playing against my sister, so the match will be even more special.”
Serena Williams will use the tournament, which takes place between December 27-29, as the start of her preparations for the 2019 Australian Open as she looks to move level with Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24 major title wins.
