Serie A Big Guns Still Sweet On Chiesa

Fiorentina managed to keep hold of Federico Chiesa during the summer but two Italian heavyweights remain keen on the forward.

Chiesa was understood to be close to a move to Juventus during the last transfer window but discussions were brought to an end when Italian-American billionaire Rocco Commisso completed his takeover of the Tusan club.

Juve haven’t given up on the Italy international and reports suggest the Bianconeri are ready to return for Chiesa next summer.

They could even make a move for the 21-year-old during the January transfer window if they opt to sell Paulo Dybala.

Argentina striker Dybala has been linked with both Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the January window and, although Chiesa isn’t a like-for-like replacement, he would still provide further competition in the attacking areas.

However, Fiorentina are likely to resist all offers for Chiesa in the winter window unless an offer that is simply too good to turn down comes in.

After snaring Franck Ribery and Kevin-Prince Boateng during the summer, among others, they have legitimate aspirations of challenging for European football and Chiesa is a key part of their plans for the campaign ahead.

The Italian champions aren’t the only interested party as Inter Milan are also believed to be keen on La Viola’s star man.

Like Juve, the Nerazurri were keen during the summer window but failed to strike a deal and are planning to return with a fresh offer next year.

Inter spent big in the summer to bring in the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Valentino Lazaro in a bid to wrestle the Scudetto away from Juve and they are ready to take on the Turin giants in the battle to land Chiesa.
