Siewert Delighted By Mooy Return

Huddersfield coach Jan Siewert says he expects the return of Aaron Mooy to have a huge impact on the team’s survival hopes.

The Terriers were without the influential Australia international for nearly two months after he suffered medial collateral ligament damage in the 1-0 loss at Arsenal in December.

The 28-year-old finally made his return to action in Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Everton at home, playing the final 35 minutes, and could now be recalled to the starting line-up for Saturday’s game at Chelsea.

Despite being rooted to the foot of the table and 12 points from safety, Siewert still believes Huddersfield can get out of trouble and he hopes Mooy’s comeback will spark an upturn in results.

Siewert said: “It [Mooy’s return] is really important because he has such a big impact on the team and he is really dangerous on set-plays.

“It’s not easy after such a long time to come back and be directly involved within the game, but he is developing more and more and every training session is bringing him closer.”

Siewert is also excited about what January signing Karlan Grant can bring to the party after his arrival from Charlton Athletic, where he scored 14 goals this season.

Siewert added: “In Karlan, I see something that is very special and I am convinced he can help us. “I think he showed in League One that he is able to score consistently and this is important for me.

He was already scoring goals in training yesterday, which makes me really proud.”
