Silva Plots Cup Challenge

Everton boss Marco Silva is targeting a “fantastic run” in the FA Cup ahead of their fourth round trip to Millwall on Saturday.

Silva may opt to make changes to his starting XI for the clash with their Championship opponents this weekend, but the Portuguese boss stressed the cup competition is a priority.

“It is always fantastic in football when you have the pressure to win games,” he told EvertonTV. “For me, without pressure and without that ambition, it does not make sense when you are working.

“You have to put this passion in your job every day and realise how big the club is where you are working. “And [you must have] the ambition – when you are talking about the FA Cup, it is a really important competition for us.

“Not just for us, for many, many clubs. But we have to look inside and say, ‘Okay, it’s really important for us, let’s do our best and everything we can to get in the next round of the FA Cup’.

“It is not important now if you are saying, ‘Okay, we should have a fantastic run in the FA Cup’. “We have to look step by step and prove in each match that [success in the Cup] is what we really want.”
