Andre Silva says Sevilla must learn to take more of their chances after edging past Real Valladolid 1-0 on Sunday. The Portuguese scored the only goal against Los Albivioletas, sending Pablo Machin’s men to the top of La Liga, a point above Barcelona.
Los Rojiblancos will now turn their focus to Thursday’s Europa League game at Standard Liege, before a tricky trip to fourth-place Alaves on Sunday.
Despite the victory, Silva was less than impressed by elements of his side’s performance, most notably in the final third.
The 23-year-old says while he is happy to be top of the league, his team could find themselves caught out in the future if they continue to miss their chances. “We should have scored the second and the third,” he told the club’s website.
“When you are not able to make the game comfortable then you struggle and anything can happen, but luckily we could get the clean sheet. “Now we are top of the league and everyone is happy, we have won a complicated game and weathered the storm.
“The coach told us before how they had only lost one game away from home but we must trust in ourselves, and we did.”
