Simpson Signs On At Gloucester

Gloucester have confirmed that scrum-half Joe Simpson has agreed to join them from Wasps in the summer. The 30-year-old came through the Wasps academy and has gone on to make over 200 appearances for the club, while he also has a cap for England, which came against Georgia at the 2011 World Cup.
Team-mate Elliott Daly has already confirmed he will be leaving the Ricoh Arena at the end of the season for Saracens and he has been joined heading out of the exit door by Simpson, with youngster Ben Vellacott heading the other way.

Kingsholm director of rugby David Humphreys says the Sydney-born Simpson is exactly the type of player the club is looking to bring in. “As we seek to build a squad that is capable of competing for honours at the highest level of the domestic and European game, strength in depth in our squad is crucial. And the addition of Joe to our ranks is a very significant one,” he said. “His background speaks for itself, he has been one of the top performing scrum-halves throughout his career at Wasps, and has shown this season that he’s still performing at the very top of his game. “Joe’s signing means that we will have significant experience and ability at the scrum-half position next season, and we’re all very much looking forward to seeing him in Cherry and White.”
