Smith Coy On Rovers Future

Tony Smith is unsure what the long-term future holds for him at Hull KR and says he is just focused on the job in hand for now. Smith signed a contract until the end of the season after replacing Tim Sheens at the start of June, and the former Leeds Rhinos coach has turned things around to a certain extent.

Performances on the pitch have improved and the fans are hoping he will stay for longer. However Rovers still sit in 11th place in Super League, and Smith’s number one aim is to improve on that, and only then can his long-term future be decided. “It gets brought up from time to time but as I keep saying, I’m happy to focus on what’s at hand now,” he told Hull Live.

“Let’s get into a different position in the ladder and then we can look at things in a whole different light. “My focus and remit at the moment is to help this team to get into that position and build for the future. We’re still making decisions for the future regardless of where I sit in that. We’re making plans as best we can and recruiting as best we can for a really bright future at this club.”
