Smith Deflated At Huddersfield Collapse

Huddersfield captain Tommy Smith felt his side were “naive” after throwing away a 3-1 lead at West Ham on Saturday. A Mark Noble penalty gave West Ham an early lead but the Terriers fought back and were level minutes later thanks to Juninho Bacuna’s header.

Karlan Grant’s gave Huddersfield a 3-1 lead but the Hammers scored three goals in the final 15 minutes to condemn the Yorkshire outfit to a 23rd Premier League defeat of the season. “I don’t know how we can score three goals away from home and be in the position we were in, and let is slip,” Smith told the Yorkshire Post.

“We blew it. “For 75 minutes it was almost the perfect away performance. But the last 15 were naive. Very, very disappointed as a team.”

Huddersfield remain bottom of the Premier League table and are 16 points adrift of safety with just seven games remaining. The Terriers could be relegated in the next round of fixtures if they lose at Crystal Palace depending on results elsewhere.
