Space Traveller Set For Mile Run-Out

Space Traveller Set For Mile Run-Out

Space Traveller is poised to make the step up to a mile on the back of his victory in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. The Richard Fahey-trained three-year-old got the better of Space Blue to secure a first win in eight in the Royal meeting, although he then went on to finish sixth behind winner Sir Dancealot in the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood on July 30.

Space Traveller is due to feature at Newbury later this month, but the future aim is to give him a step-up in distance. On the Goodwood outing, Fahey said: “I just thought it was a messy race and he got stuck out on a limb, but it was nobody’s fault.

“I just get the feeling he is a horse that wants really fast ground to be at his best. That’s my opinion. He has form on slower ground, but his best form is on quicker ground. “He is in the Hungerford Stakes (Newbury, August 17), but we are looking to step him up to a mile at some stage, so we could go down that route next.”
