Tottenham still have a fight on their hands to keep hold of Toby Alderweireld as Bayern Munich are said to be lining up a move. The Belgium defender was strongly linked with a switch to Manchester United before the closure of the transfer window last week but Spurs managed to keep him out of their clutches.
That does not mean he will not be on his way this summer as the transfer window in Europe does not close until the end of the month and according to former Spurs star Jermaine Jenas, Alderweireld may still get the big contract offer he is after from the German champions.
He told Express Sport: “I worry about that situation.
“I think if anybody is going to be gone in terms of the window still being open in Europe, he would be the one that possibly does go.
“I’ve always hoped he would be the one that stayed but I get Toby’s situation.
“He’s coming to the end of his career, he wants that big contract, he deserves that big contract and he’s going to get that big contract.
“And if Tottenham aren’t the club to do it, he’ll wait and get it elsewhere.”
