James Tarkowski says Joe Hart just has to keep performing for Burnley if he is to force his way back into the England squad.
The 31-year-old has 75 England caps to his name, but following a disappointing loan spell at West Ham last season, he missed out on the World Cup and has not figured since.
However, since signing for Burnley in a £4million deal, he has shown signs of getting back to his best, and according to Tarkowski that can only be good news for the Clarets and England.
Keeping his place in the Burnley side and fighting off fellow England hopefuls Nick Pope and Tom Heaton has to be the main aim and England boss Gareth Southgate may take notice again.
“It’s not my selection problem. I think Joe has been terrific since he’s been here but the lads involved with England have been terrific for their clubs as well. He’s done really well but it’s not my selection,” the Clarets centre back said.
“He’s just got to play well every game, that’s all he can do, and he’s done that since he’s been here. He’s fitted in really well and performed really well. That’s all he’ll want to do and we’ll see what the manager wants to do after that.”
