Everton Defender Moves On

Everton have parted company with defender Brendan Galloway, who has joined Championship new boys Luton on a free transfer. The 23-year-old made 21 senior appearances for the Toffees but was unable to force his way into the side on a more regular basis and also had loan spells at West Brom and Sunderland.

Luton announced the signing on their official website when saying: “Brendan Galloway has today become the Town’s fourth signing of the summer window after finalising a free transfer move from Everton.” Galloway arrived at Goodison Park from MK Dons in 2014 and began the 2015-16 campaign in the starting line-up after an injury to Leighton Baines, but has been unable to kick on from there.

Hatters boss Graeme Jones added: “Brendan’s a left-back who can play centre-half. He’s lightning quick, competent on the ball and he really loves to get forward. “He’s 6ft 1in, so a good size and good age, and he’ll add great competition to the squad in that area.” Luton were promoted back to the second tier for the first time since 2007 as Sky Bet League One champions last season.
