Toffees Linked With PSG Raid

Sources in France say Thomas Meunier’s uncertainty at Paris Saint-Germain has led to interest being reignited by Everton.

The Belgian joined PSG from Club Brugge in the summer of 2016 and has enjoyed a successful stint to date, winning Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and a pair of Coupe de la Ligues.

However, Dani Alves’ arrival in 2017 saw his game time limited last season and he has again found regular minutes hard to come by under Thomas Tuchel in 2018-19.

Everton were linked with him last April and could be in the market for defensive reinforcements, with right-back Seamus Coleman still to truly rediscover his form after recovering from a seriously broken leg suffered in March 2017.

Youngster Jonjoe Kenny has failed to provide regular competition and the Toffees have reportedly decided to again look across the Channel for a solution.

Meunier’s contract runs until the summer of 2020 and with doubts over whether he will sign a new deal mean a transfer could be arranged at the end of the season, with PSG unlikely to let him go for free next year.

The 36-cap Belgian is valued at around 35m euros but that price tag is likely to diminish if the 27-year-old continues to struggle in Paris.
