Reading have confirmed the signing of Everton goalkeeper Joao Virginia on a season-long loan deal.
The 19-year-old, who spent time in Benfica’s academy and was part of Everton Under-23s’ double-winning squad last season, will spend the full campaign on loan with the Royals.
Reading manager Jose Gomes told the club’s website: “Joao is a gifted young goalkeeper who grew up learning his trade at one of the greatest clubs in Portugal and has since impressed in English football as part of Arsenal and Everton’s Under-23s.
“I am delighted that he will now get an opportunity to fight for first-team football as a Royal.” The player wrote on Twitter: “Delighted to join @ReadingFC on loan.
