Toro Rosso Team Principal Franz Tost hailed Daniil Kvyat’s performance after getting back behind the wheel with the team. The Russian was dropped at the end of 2017, following a tumultuous 18 months which had seen him replaced at Red Bull by Max Verstappen.
After a year working with Ferrari, Toro Rosso have brought him back on board for 2019 and he looked sharp during the post-season test in Abu Dhabi.
Tost says it was good to see the 24-year-old in the car once more and is backing him to form a solid partnership alongside Alexander Albon.
“We were all more than happy to see Daniil back in Toro Rosso for the second day of testing, and he was able to immediately show a good performance,” Tost said.
“With all of the new data we’ve gathered, the engineers have a valid platform on how to prepare and run the tyres next year.
“We’re already looking forward to the next season, Daniil and Alex are very competitive drivers and we can’t wait to see them on track.”
