Tottenham Facing Crucial Week In Stadium Move

Tottenham are anxiously waiting to find out if they will finally be able to move into their new stadium next month.

The new £1billion stadium has been beset by delays and Spurs have had to continue with their tenancy at Wembley rather than take up residence at the new state-of-the-art home.

It was initially hoped they would be playing at the new venue by October, but ongoing delays and problems in particular with the wiring has meant frustration.

However, there is light at the end of the tunnel and the club are expected to make an announcement before the end of the week to update fans on when they can move in.

The Evening Standard says more checks on the wiring and the stadium’s critical safety systems will be made this week and, if they go well, Spurs could even feasibly host their first game there next month.

However, if more testing and commissioning is needed, it will be scheduled for late February, which it’s claimed would likely delay the opening of the ground into April or even next season.

The north London derby against Arsenal on March 2 is likely to be confirmed as being moved to Wembley this week before a decision is then made on the ‘home’ games that follow against Crystal Palace (March 17) and Brighton (April 6), although those fixture dates are also subject to change for live TV coverage.
