Tuchel Defends Neymar

Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel has jumped to the defence of under-fire Neymar and defended his behaviour on Wednesday.

As the French champions were rocked by a late goal in the Champions League against Napoli, the head coach was forced to defend his star man who had earlier been flattened by an Edison Cavani challenge that led to a spell on the sidelines.

At the final whistle, Neymar allegedly kicked out at a camera following Angel Di Maria’s stunning late equaliser and was quick to make an exit without shaking hands with the Napoli players or acknowledging the PSG supporters.

“It is normal,” the coach told his post match news conference. “Perhaps Neymar wanted just one last chance to win.
“It was totally emotional. The referee blew his whistle and it was an emotional reaction, but not a lack of respect.
“Neymar was not happy – he wanted to win. He is a player who wants to win. It is not a lack of respect, not at all.”
