Tuilagi Handed England Start

Centre Manu Tuilagi will make his first Six Nations start since 2013 when England take on defending champions Ireland on Saturday.

Tuilagi will start at 12 in the absence of injured Ben Te’o as England try to lay down a marker under coach Eddie Jones.

The 27-year-old has endured a number of frustrating injuries over the years but now gets the chance to impress, as does Elliot Daly.

Daly starts at fullback ahead of Mike Brown while George Kruis partners fellow Saracen Maro Itoje in the second row. Owen Farrell starts at fly-half, with Henry Slade partnering Tuilagi in midfield, and Jones insists his team are well prepared to silence their doubters.

He told reporters: “It is well documented no-one thinks we can win. But I can tell you everyone inside our camp believes we can win. We are hugely looking forward to the weekend.”
