The France international is only just back from nearly two months out and will now head to Qatar for more treatment.
A club statement read: “The first-team player Samuel Umtiti will follow a plan of conservative treatment with the objective of curing the discomfort in his left knee.
“The player will travel to Doha, Qatar, where he will follow this therapeutic plan under the supervision of the club’s Medical Services.”
Clement Lenglet will step in for Umtiti but the situation is a real worry for Barcelona.
