Jose Mourinho is expected to make wholesale changes to his Manchester United side for Sunday’s trip to Burnley. The Red Devils were woeful in their 3-2 defeat at Brighton and, despite signs of encouragement in Monday’s game with Tottenham, they eventually went down 3-0.
Mourinho subsequently admitted to not knowing his best defence after he started with a three-man back-line against Spurs, which included midfielder Ander Herrera who is expected to feature in his more familiar role at Turf Moor.
Eric Bailly is likely to come back into the side to partner Chris Smalling in a defensive four, while Alexis Sanchez could only make the bench against Mauricio Pochettino’s side but should be ready to start.
Phil Jones is injured but Marcos Rojo is returning to fitness although he will not be ready for Sunday.
Sergio Romero and Diogo Dalot are also on the comeback trail and will be hoping to accelerate their respective recoveries with the Under-23s in the coming weeks.
