United Set To Cash In Despite Champions League Exit

Old Trafford chiefs expect to bank £50m despite Manchester United’s quarter-final Champions League exit to Barcelona on Tuesday night.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team were dealt a painful 3-0 lesson at the Nou Camp, which saw Lionel Messi inspire the Catalan giants to a comprehensive 4-0 aggregate scoreline over the two legs.

Barca are now looking ahead to a mouthwatering semi-final showdown against Liverpool although United still expect to rake in a hefty amount after making the last eight of Europe’s premier competition.

It’s understood the Red Devils will land around £35m from their share of the TV pool, thanks to the new deals which kicked in last year.

And glamour ties against Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Barca guaranteed premium gate receipts at the Theatre of Dreams, which are believed to have been worth an additional £15m.

United now have five games left in which to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League and gain entry once again into the Champions League, with all the riches it evidently brings.
