Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has labelled midfielder Marco Verratti as one of the world’s best players. The Italian has been a key figure for the Parisians since joining from Pescara ahead of the 2012-13 campaign, having made 243 appearances across all competitions.
Verratti’s future in Paris looked uncertain over the summer with Barcelona understood to be big admirers, however, they failed to register an official approach.
Tuchel, who took charge at the Parc des Princes ahead of the 2018-19 season, appears keen to keep hold of the midfielder for as long as possible and regards him as one of the best around.
“For me, it’s not a surprise [how Verratti plays],” Tuchel said.
“Marco is very important, he is an extraordinary player.
“He is one of the best players in the world. He finds solutions in closed situations, in very tight spaces. He is very confident and he works like crazy when we lose the ball.
“It’s very good for us, to influence all the others, and also the fans. I want our fans to fall in love with the team – we have the best players in the world. It’s very important for us.”
