Verstappen Satisfied After Hungarian GP

Max Verstappen says it was a “good weekend” for Red Bull after he came in second behind Lewis Hamilton in Hungary. The Dutchman qualified on pole and led for much of the race but he was unable to hold of the Mercedes of Hamilton in the latter stages on Sunday.

A victory at the Hungaroring would have given Verstappen a glimmer of hope in the battle for the Drivers’ Championship but his chances now seem all but over, with Hamilton 69 points ahead of the 21-year-old with nine races remaining.

Nevertheless, Verstappen felt there were plenty of positives to take from his display on Sunday. He said: “We were just not fast enough. I tried everything I could on that hard tyre to stay alive. Still, second, fastest lap, a good weekend overall.

“Congrats to Lewis, he was pushing me really hard. I like that. Still a good weekend for us. We were just lacking a bit of grip. We tried a one-stop, they had the opportunity for two and that worked out well.”
