Vettel Hoping For Monaco Shake-Up

Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel is hoping the Formula 1 form book will be ripped up at this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix.

Mercedes will head to the principality after a record-breaking start to 2019, beginning the season with five consecutive one-two finishes and they already hold a healthy advantage over their rivals.

The Silver Arrows are likely to be the team to beat in Monaco this weekend as well, particularly given the improvements they have made to their F1 W10 EQ Power+ car, which will help them to excel in slow corners around the street circuit.

However, Monaco has not been a happy hunting ground for Mercedes over recent years, with Ferrari dominating in 2017 before Daniel Ricciardo led from the front to claim glory with Red Bull last year.

Scuderia ace Vettel certainly feels anything could happen in Monaco and is hoping that this weekend’s race will help change the dynamic of the entire season. “This track is unique and anything can happen this weekend,” said Vettel, who will be looking to close the gap on Drivers’ Championship leader Lewis Hamilton. “It’s probably irrelevant what the paper might say or the form of the last five races might suggest. Coming here anything can happen.”
