Villarreal boss Javier Calleja has indicated he will rotate his squad for the visit of Rangers but he won’t underestimate them. The Yellow Submarine entertain the Scottish outfit in the Europa League on Thursday and Calleja sees similarities between Rangers and La Liga rivals Leganes, who Villarreal claimed a 1-0 win over on Saturday.
Calleja hinted he will tinker with his starting XI but expects a stern test against the Glasgow outfit regardless.
“Their play is marked with intensity, they play a direct style of game and look to take advantage of set pieces that come their way,” said Calleja, as reported by Marca.
“To combat that, we have to look to keep possession and take advantage of openings and make sure we do not make any mistakes defensively.
“We will draw on our experience against Leganes and remain patient with our approach and have belief in what we want to do.
“Rotations? Yes probably, when you have a lot of games that is what you need to do and the fixtures are coming faster now.”
