David Wagner could rejig Huddersfield’s formation after revealing Mathias Jorgensen is out of Sunday’s clash with Manchester City. The Terriers boss delivered news of the injury blow at his pre-match press conference on Friday, detailing his assessment of how the Denmark international did it.
“Unfortunately in training, Zanka got a muscle injury,” said Wagner.
“It does not look serious but he will miss this game at the weekend. He will miss the weekend, but we have hope he will be available for the Cardiff match.
“We will make the decision next week.”
Wagner also announced that midfielder Jonathan Hogg is a doubt for the visit to the Etihad Stadium because of “a slight hip issue”.
Danny Williams and Erik Durm remain unavailable this weekend with the manager suggesting that a realistic target for both players will be the Carabao Cup second-round tie with Stoke City at the end of the month.
Wagner is, however, considering a reshuffle of his resources to counter the loss of Jorgensen, who was an ever-present for the club in the Premier League last season.
“This is one option,” said the Town boss.
“We as well have the option to play with Jon Stankovic who had a good pre-season.
“We have other options with other players able to play in the centre back position.”
