David Wagner described Phillip Billing’s performance as “smart” and intelligent after he helped Huddersfield to a 1-1 draw at Everton. The Terriers head coach was pleased with the overall display from the side as they recorded a battling point at Goodison Park, but he was quick to single out several players for special praise.
Wagner claimed Rajiv van La Parra put in his best shift for Town, while he also had good words about Billing after the 22-year-old Danish midfielder scored the opening goal of the game.
The German told the Examiner: “I am very happy for Phil that he scored his Premier League goal. He played very well together with Aaron [Mooy] in the centre.
“They really closed the gaps and worked their socks off, and it wasn’t easy for Phil because he got a yellow card so early.
“You have to be smart and you have to play with intelligence as he has done.”
