Warnock Ready To Trite Off City Clash

Neil Warnock says he will “probably” play Cardiff’s Under-23s when they travel to Manchester City on Wednesday.

The Bluebirds boss was left disappointed by the performance of the officials after his side were beaten 2-1 at home by Chelsea on Sunday.

Cesar Azpilicueta was standing offside when he met Marcos Alonso’s flick-on to head home the equaliser with six minutes left to play, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek then hitting a winner for Chelsea in stoppage time.

The defeat leaves Cardiff five points adrift of safety and Warnock has now threatened to make wholesale changes for the trip to title chasers City ahead of a clash with fellow strugglers Burnley at the weekend. “We keep getting knockbacks,” he told Sky Sports.

“I will probably play the Under-23s on Wednesday against Manchester City and try to keep it down to 10 or 11. “It doesn’t matter who you play at the minute, it is who has a flag in his hand and who has a whistle.” He added: “If I was a Burnley, Southampton or a Brighton fan, they will be absolutely loving it today. “I’ve had one kick in the teeth after another this season and the players have as well.

But we’ve always bounced back. So we’ll probably play the 23s at City and get ready for Burnley.” If Warnock does follow through on his threat, he could risk a fine for Cardiff he selects a number of younger players from outside their 25-man Premier League squad.
