Wasps Hit By Gopperth Blow

Wasps playmaker Jimmy Gopperth has confirmed he will miss the remaining two Premiership games of the season with a broken thumb. It is more bad luck for the 35-year-old, who had been out for eight months after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in pre-season in August.

Gopperth, who can play fly-half or inside centre, picked up the injury in Saturday’s Wasps loss to Saracens. Although he is disappointed to miss the last two games, he was delighted to suffer no problems with his knee, and says the aim is to now make sure he is fitter than ever for next season.

“Absolutely gutted not to be involved for the rest of the season with the boys,” he posted on his Instagram page. “On a positive note I was so happy with how my knee felt. All the hard work has paid off and now I can keep working hard to hit next season fitter and stronger.”
