Who Is Most In Danger Of Crashing Out Of The Carabao Cup On Tuesday?

The second round of the Carabao Cup takes place on Tuesday and there is the potential for shocks with one or two Premier League clubs under pressure.

The Premier is just a few games old but it has not been a great start for some and the Cup action could either give them a much-needed boost and the chance to get a win under the belt, or push them further into the mire with a defeat.

Once such club is Watford. They were Cup heroes pretty much last season when making it all the way to the FA Cup semi-final before losing to Wolves, while they also had a stellar season in the Premier League, just missing out on a Europa League spot.

However, three months is a long time in football and they are currently rooted to the foot of the Premier League table following three defeats on the bounce. There is already talk of boss Javi Gracia facing the axe and defeat against Coventry could be another nail in the coffin.

Coventry have made a good start to life in League One, sitting fifth in the table, and will be fired up for the Vicarage Road clash as they have nothing to lose.

Aston Villa face a tricky trip to Gresty Road to take on League Two side Crewe, who have also started the season well with three wins to leave them in sixth place.

Confidence will be high and if Villa have an off night the Railwaymen will be ready to pounce. Villa picked up their first win of the season when beating Everton on Friday, but with Dean Smith sure to make changes they could be disjointed.

Three other Premier League sides are on their travels as well, with newly-promoted Norwich heading to Crawley, West Ham take on Newport, while Brighton head to Bristol Rovers.

Again like Villa, none of them can allow complacency to creep in and will have to be on their game to avoid the banana skin and humiliating exit.

Newport showed what they are capable of last season in the FA Cup when knocking out Leicester City on home soil and then Middlesbrough before going out to Manchester United, so the Hammers could face a tough examination.

Both Bristol Rovers and Crawley are no mugs either sitting in mid-table in League One and Two respectively and will be desperate to pull off a giant-killing.

Finally, Sheffield United versus Blackburn Rovers was a Championship game last season before the Blades won promotion, and although it wouldn’t be the biggest of shocks, Rovers could be in with a shout at Bramall Lane.
