Whyte Makes AJ Easy Fights Claim

Dillian Whyte has accused Anthony Joshua of looking to set up “easy fights” to remain champion and “make a load of money”. The 30-year-old put himself firmly in the driving seat for a heavyweight title shot after a stunning 11th-round KO win against Dereck Chisora at the O2 Arena on December 22.
Whyte called out the watching Joshua at the time with pair exchanging words at the ring with the current WBA (Super), IBF and WBO champion insisting that he would prefer a unification fight against WBC belt holder Deontay Wilder or even Tyson Fury in his planned next fight at Wembley in April.
With Fury and Wilder trying to line up a rematch on the back of their thrilling draw in Los Angeles last month, Whyte insists he is the only viable option for ‘AJ’, but claims his British rival’s advisors are trying to push him into other fights which they feel he will comfortably win.
Whyte, who suffered a seventh-round stoppage when he faced Joshua for the first time as a professional in December 2015, told Talksport’s Adam Catterall: “I called him out there live thinking the fight could be made and I was very disappointed with Anthony’s response. “I was ready for him to say ‘Okay, let’s get it on’. “Wilder is not going to fight him because he doesn’t want it and is fighting Tyson Fury. “But from his answer – and the way he was acting – I think AJ might want the fight, but I don’t think his team wants the fight. “I think AJ is going into the business now thinking ‘I can have mediocre, easy fights and still make a load of money’ so why not? “Realistically, if he wanted to fight Wilder after Wilder came over with the $50million he still didn’t want to fight him.”
