Widnes Vikings fullback Olly Ashall-Bott says it was a “no-brainer” to pen a new two-year contract. The 20-year-old came through the ranks with Widnes before making his senior debut earlier this season.
He was loaned out to North Wales Crusaders for a short spell in 2018 to gain further experience although his campaign was ended prematurely when he sustained a serious knee injury.
Ashall-Bott’s performances led to reported interest from a number of Super League clubs but he has opted to stay put to continue his development at the Select Security Stadium.
“It was a no-brainer for me,” Ashall-Bott said. “I’ve had a couple of other clubs get in touch but as soon as the offer was on the table from Widnes, I was always going to sign.
“I’m a home-town lad, so it was an easy decision to make. I want there to be only one club in my life.”
