Sussex have signed South African all-rounder David Wiese to a longer contract that extends his stay beyond next season. The 33-year-old singed a three-year deal back in 2017 as a Kolpak player but that has now been extended, although the club have not revealed the length of the new contract.
Sussex head coach Jason Gillespie will be hoping the former South Africa international’s runs and wickets will propel the side to go one better next season and gain promotion to the top flight.
Sussex finished third last in Division Two last season missing out on promotion by one place.
Gillespie said: “David was fantastic in 2018 in all forms of the game and it’s very pleasing that he has agreed to a contract extension with us.
“He will continue to fulfil an important role for Sussex and we’re really looking forward to him continuing to perform strongly for us.”
