Winks Reveals Injury Struggles

Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks says he has to get through the pain barrier of an ankle problem after surgery in the off-season.

Boss Mauricio Pochettino revealed earlier in the campaign that Winks had surgery on a long-standing ankle problem after suffering throughout the campaign.

While Winks is still affected by the problem, he has been one of Tottenham’s most regular performer this season, only missing five of their 38 games and featuring for the entire 90 minutes in their last eight matches.

Harry says however, he is managing to put the issue of the pain behind him. “Yeah, I have niggles in my ankle, which I’m managing to play with. I have managed to somehow put that to the back of my mind. I try not worry or overthink it too much,” he told reporters.

“This season has been fantastic. I set some aims — just to play as many games as possible and stay fit all season. So far, so good. I’ve played a lot of matches and, fingers crossed, I will stay injury-free.”

Winks’ form in the Premier League allowed Pochettino to part ways with Mousa Dembele, who left the club to join Guangzhou R&F.
