Wolfsburg Downplay Steffen Setback

Wolfsburg have confirmed Renato Steffen’s shoulder injury against Borussia Dortmund was not as bad as first feared. The Switzerland midfielder sustained the problem after falling awkwardly attempting an elaborate overhead kick during the Bundesliga encounter at the weekend.

Initial scans on Saturday ruled out a fracture and a follow-up MRI on Monday has revealed the shoulder is only bruised so Steffen should make a swift recovery.

Wolfsburg will be hoping to have the 27-year-old fit for their next outing when they make the trip to Hannover 96 on Friday night as they look to bounce back from their defeat to table-toppers Dortmund.
