Wolves Target To Decide Future

Wolves target Hector Herrera has pulled out of the Mexico squad due to take place in the Gold Cup in order to sort out his future. He confirmed on Twitter that he will not be available to represent Mexico at this summer’s Gold Cup as he focuses his attention on securing a move away from FC Porto.

The 29-year-old midfielder has spent the last six seasons with Portuguese giants Porto, but is set to leave this summer with both Wolves and Arsenal known to be showing an interest.

Herrera’s contract is set to expire, meaning there will be a scramble for his signature over the next month or so. Herrera has opted to pull out of the Mexico squad to focus on recovery following another gruelling season, and to also get himself fixed up with another club.

“Through this release, I want to inform my motives for my absence for the 2019 Gold Cup,” Herrera wrote on Twitter. “I find myself in need of recovering my peak fitness after the physical and mental toll of a season in which I have played more than 50 official matches with my current club – and additionally to have the chance to define my professional future.”
