Caroline Wozniacki will go up against Karolina Pliskova, Petra Kvitova and Elina Svitolina in the defence of her WTA Finals crown. The Australian Open champion and world number two has been drawn in the same ‘White’ group as two of the players she beat on the way to lifting the trophy in Singapore last year.

In 2017, the Dane beat Ukrainian world number six Svitolina in her first group game and Czech star Kvitova in the semi-finals before going on to defeat Venus Williams in the final.
In the ‘Red’ group, Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber, a runner-up in the event in 2016, will meet US Open champion Naomi Osaka, America’s Sloane Stephens and Kiki Bertens, all of whom are making their debuts in the event.
World number one Simona Halep will miss the season-ending WTA showpiece because of a back injury but was presented with the Player of the Year award at the draw ceremony.
The Romanian’s place has gone to Bertens and she picked up the year’s Most Improved Player award.
