Yarmolenko Thanks Hammers Support

Injured West Ham winger Andriy Yarmolenko has thanked the club’s fans for their support during his time on the sidelines. Ukraine international Yarmolenko only moved to the London Stadium from Borussia Dortmund during the summer but he made a positive impact during the opening months of the season, scoring two goals in nine Premier League appearances.

However, the 29-year-old suffered a serious Achilles problem during the Hammers 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in October and boss Manuel Pellegrini recently confirmed the injury is likely to keep him out for the rest of the season.

Such a setback could easily have put Yarmolenko down, but the former Dynamo Kyiv wide-man says he has been able to remain upbeat thanks to the messages of encouragement he has received from West Ham’s supporters. “I’ve had so many positive messages from West Ham fans. For me it really helps,” Yarmolenko told the Hammers website. “West Ham supporters are really passionate and I think we, as a group of players, we really appreciate that.
Yarmolenko is also looking forward to returning to full fitness and playing in front of a rocking London Stadium again soon. “The atmosphere at London Stadium has been really good,” he added. “When I come to the matches you can really feel the noise from the fans getting behind the team. I can’t wait to be back and to feel this again.”
