Young Struggling To Explain Form

Manchester United defender Ashley Young says he is at a loss as to why they are struggling to perform.

The Red Devils led at the John Smith’s Stadium through Scott McTominay but Isaac Mbenza’s strike on the hour mark denied them all three points.

United, who are certain to be playing Europa League football next term, have now gone five games without a win following Sunday’s 1-1 draw, their worst sequence since a run of eight matches without victory under Louis van Gaal in 2015.

Young admits a lack of Champions League football in 2019-20 is a huge blow but has challenged his teammates to come out fighting. “I’m not sure what it is, its a number of things.

It’s a disappointment now we can’t make the top four. We must go away and be ready to go again,” Young said. “We haven’t been playing the way we should, that’s why we are where we are in the league table.

It’s a massive blow for a club like Manchester United. It’s not what we want to be talking about, fighting for top four, we want trophies and titles. “It’s been tough, we haven’t been fighting for titles and its a massive disappointment. We must come back next season ready to win.”
