Pablo Zabaleta believes West Ham would benefit from signing a player of Samir Nasri’s quality. Former France international Nasri has been without a club since leaving Turkish outfit Antalyaspor, while he has not played competitively for a year due to a suspension imposed on him for breaching World Anti-Doping Agency rules.

However, the 31-year-old’s ban is due to expire at the end of the year and he has been training with West Ham for a number of weeks in a bid to stay fit and earn a contract with the Premier League club.
Nasri is a player that Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini knows well from their time together at Manchester City and Zabaleta, who was also a team-mate of Nasri’s at the Etihad Stadium, believes the Frenchman would be a great signing.
“Manuel [Pellegrini] knows Samir very well from his time at Manchester City,” Zabaleta was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “We know Samir and his quality. When he is fit he is on a different level. He is a fantastic player.”
Zabaleta did admit it could take Nasri some time to get back up to full speed, but he is adamant the Hammers should take a risk and sign the former Arsenal star. “Samir needs a bit of time,” Zabaleta added.
“He has not been football training for more than a year but sometimes those players are technically very good so he probably needs to focus more on his fitness levels than his passing and all this. “Hopefully he can reach his best fitness level. He has to feel physically good because we know that the Premier League is so demanding physically.”
